Early in the morning, your driver will collect you from your accommodation in Fes to begin the journey south toward the Sahara. The first stop is Ifrane, a mountain town known for its European-style buildings, tidy streets, and cool climate. Because of its architecture and winter snowfall, many visitors compare it to alpine towns in Europe. A short drive later brings you to the cedar forests near Azrou, home to groups of Barbary macaques that roam freely among the trees. Visitors often pause here to watch the monkeys and walk through the peaceful forest surroundings.

Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, the road leads toward Midelt and then descends toward the impressive Ziz Valley. From several viewpoints, you can admire the long stretch of palm groves that follow the river through the desert landscape. By late afternoon, the desert village of Merzouga appears at the edge of the Sahara. Here the adventure continues with a camel ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. As you travel deeper into the desert, the colors of the sand shift with the setting sun. After reaching the camp hidden among the dunes, dinner will be served under the open sky. Later in the evening, local hosts often play traditional music around the fire while the stars shine clearly above the desert.
