Day 2: Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Gorges
Your driver will collect you from your accommodation around 8:30 in the morning, marking the beginning of your desert journey. The road soon climbs into the High Atlas Mountains, following the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which rises to more than 2,200 meters above sea level.
The first major destination of the day is the remarkable Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This historic fortified village has stood for centuries along ancient caravan routes and is now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can wander through its narrow pathways and discover the traditional architecture that has made it a popular filming location for productions such as Gladiator and The Mummy.
Later in the afternoon, the route passes through the palm groves of Skoura and the fragrant Rose Valley, known for its seasonal rose harvest and local products made from rose petals. Continuing through what is often referred to as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, you will arrive at the scenic Dades Valley where dinner and overnight accommodation await.

Day 3: Dades Gorge → Tinghir → Merzouga
The road continues east through traditional villages and rocky landscapes toward the town of Tinghir. A stop along the way offers a beautiful view of the Todra Valley, where a vast palm grove stretches across the valley floor. The cliffs reach heights of nearly 300 meters and attract climbers and travelers from around the world. You will have time to walk along the canyon floor and appreciate the impressive natural scenery. The journey continues through the towns of Tinjdad and Touroug, where there will be time to stop for lunch before heading further south.
In the afternoon, the landscape slowly transitions toward the Sahara. Passing through Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops, the road finally reaches Merzouga, located at the edge of the vast Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, your desert experience begins with a camel ride across the dunes, lasting around an hour and a half. During the ride, you will pause among the sand hills to watch the sunset as the colors of the desert change with the fading light. As evening arrives, you will reach a traditional desert camp, where mint tea, dinner, and music around the campfire create a memorable night beneath the desert sky.

Day 4: Exploring the Merzouga Desert Region
The quiet beauty of the desert at sunrise is well worth waking early. Watching the first light spread across the dunes is one of the most memorable moments of the journey. After breakfast, you will return to Merzouga village either by camel or by 4×4 vehicle. From there, a full day of exploration around the Erg Chebbi region begins.
The first stop is the Hassi Labied oasis, where traditional irrigation systems still support small farms surrounded by palm trees. Nearby, you may visit Srij Lake when water is present, a seasonal lake that sometimes attracts flamingos and other migratory birds. Later, the journey continues to Khamlia village, home to musicians whose ancestors came from sub-Saharan Africa. Here you will enjoy the rhythmic sounds of Gnawa music, a tradition passed down through generations.
The day also includes a visit to the Mifis mining area, known for mineral and fossil deposits, followed by a stop to meet a nomadic Berber family living in a traditional desert tent. Sharing a glass of mint tea provides a chance to learn about their daily life in the Sahara. After lunch and several scenic stops for photos, you will return to your hotel in Merzouga for dinner and overnight accommodation with views of the dunes.
5
Day 5: Merzouga → Rissani → Draa Valley → Agdz → Ouarzazate
The trip continues westward toward Rissani, a historic town once considered the center of the Tafilalet region. If your visit coincides with one of the market days Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday you will have the opportunity to explore its lively traditional souk, where traders sell spices, dates, textiles, and local goods. From Rissani, the route enters a more arid landscape dotted with acacia trees before reaching the scenic Draa Valley.
This valley follows Morocco’s longest river and is known for its extensive palm groves and ancient kasbahs. Several stops will be made to enjoy the views of this beautiful valley before crossing sections of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Along the way, there will be time for a relaxed lunch before continuing the drive. By late afternoon, you will arrive once again in Ouarzazate, where dinner and overnight accommodation will be arranged.

Day 6: Ouarzazate → Atlas Mountains → Marrakech City Tour
Following breakfast, the road leads back toward Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains once again.
