6 Day Morocco Tour From Casablanca

  • Traveling across Morocco from Casablanca to Marrakech reveals an incredible variety of landscapes, cultures, and historic cities. This six-day journey connects some of the country’s most famous destinations, combining imperial cities, ancient ruins, mountain scenery, and the vast dunes of the Sahara. The route begins in Casablanca along the Atlantic coast before moving inland to discover Roman history in Volubilis and the imperial heritage of Meknes.

Soon after, the journey reaches Fes, Morocco’s cultural center, where centuries-old traditions, historic schools, and lively markets fill the narrow streets of its famous medina. A camel ride across the Sahara at sunset and a night in a desert camp create some of the most memorable moments of the trip. The adventure continues through dramatic canyons, ancient kasbahs, and mountain passes before finally arriving in Marrakech. Over six days, this route reveals many of Morocco’s most remarkable highlights in a single journey.

1

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca – City Exploration

The first day begins with a warm welcome at Casablanca Airport or at your accommodation in the city. Casablanca is Morocco’s largest urban center and the country’s economic hub, where modern life blends with historic architecture. The tour starts with a visit to the impressive Hassan II Mosque, standing along the Atlantic coastline. Its detailed craftsmanship and seaside location make it one of Morocco’s most recognizable landmarks.

After some time for lunch, the afternoon is dedicated to exploring several highlights of the city. Visitors often enjoy taking photos outside Rick’s Café, inspired by the famous Hollywood film. Later, a walk along La Corniche reveals ocean views, cafés, and the modern side of the city.

Day 2: Casablanca → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes

The trip heads inland toward Volubilis, one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in North Africa. The ruins include impressive arches, columns, and detailed mosaics that still decorate the floors of ancient villas. Walking through this historic site offers a glimpse into Morocco’s Roman past. A short drive brings the group to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities and the former capital during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail.

The city features monumental gates, royal structures, and large open squares. Highlights include Bab Mansour, considered one of the most beautiful gates in Morocco, along with the Sahrij Souani basin, the royal granaries, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. In the afternoon, the road continues toward Fes, where the evening is free to relax in a traditional riad inside the old city.

Day 3: Guided Tour of Fes

Today is dedicated to discovering Fes, a city known for its cultural and spiritual importance in Morocco. After breakfast, the tour begins with a short drive to several panoramic viewpoints and historic sites. The first stop is the impressive Royal Palace gate, famous for its large bronze doors and detailed decoration. Nearby lies The Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter with its distinctive architecture and narrow streets. From Borj Sud, visitors enjoy sweeping views across the old city and its maze-like medina. The route also includes a visit to a ceramics workshop, where traditional pottery and mosaics are still crafted by hand.

Later, the exploration continues on foot inside the Fes Medina, one of the oldest and most preserved medieval cities in the world. Walking through its winding streets reveals historic schools such as Al Attarine Madrasa, as well as the Al Quaraouiyine University, widely considered the world’s oldest operating university. The tour also passes the famous Chouara Tanneries, where leather is processed using traditional techniques that have remained unchanged for centuries.

Day 4: Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

The first stop is Ifrane, a mountain town known for its alpine architecture, clean streets, and cool climate. A short drive later leads to the cedar forests near Azrou, home to groups of Barbary macaques that live freely among the trees. The road then continues toward Midelt, located between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas ranges. After a lunch break, the journey proceeds through Tizi n'Tilght Pass and along the spectacular Ziz Valley, where thousands of palm trees grow along the river.

By late afternoon the desert village of Merzouga appears at the edge of the Sahara. Here the experience changes as camels carry travelers across the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. A pause on top of a dune allows time to watch the sunset before reaching the desert camp. Dinner is served beneath the open sky, followed by traditional music around the fire. Overnight stay in a Sahara desert camp.

Day 5: Merzouga → Rissani → Erfoud → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

Early morning offers the chance to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, the journey leaves the desert and heads toward Rissani, once the capital of the Tafilalet region. Its traditional market remains an important trading center for nearby villages. The route then passes through Erfoud, a town known for its fossil workshops where ancient marine fossils are transformed into decorative stone pieces.

Continuing west, the road follows palm-filled valleys toward the dramatic Todra Gorge. Towering cliffs rise on both sides of a narrow canyon where a small river flows below. Visitors often enjoy walking through the gorge and taking photos of the impressive rock walls. Later in the day, the drive continues toward Dades Valley, famous for unusual rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers.” Several stops allow travelers to admire panoramic views across the valley before reaching the hotel.

Day 6: Dades Valley → Rose Valley → Skoura → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech

The final day begins with a drive through the Rose Valley, known for its fragrant rose fields and annual festival held each spring. Next, the route passes through the palm groves of Skoura, where many historic kasbahs remain hidden among the trees. Arriving in Ouarzazate, visitors may stop near the famous film studios that have served as locations for numerous international movies.

A short drive later leads to the legendary Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The kasbah’s mud-brick towers and narrow passages have appeared in many films and television productions. The tour then continues north across the High Atlas Mountains, following the winding road through Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Several scenic stops allow time for photos before descending toward the plains of Marrakech.
