Day 1: Tangier - Chefchaouen
The road offers sweeping views where the Mediterranean coastline meets green hills and rugged terrain. Passing through Tetouan, a city known for its Andalusian influence and distinctive medina, you continue deeper into the mountains. By the afternoon, you arrive in Chefchaouen, a town famous for its blue-painted streets and relaxed atmosphere. Spend time wandering through its narrow alleys lined with white and blue buildings, small artisan shops, and the central square of Uta el-Hammam. After exploring, settle into your accommodation for the night.

Day 2: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Fes
Depart Chefchaouen and head toward the ancient Roman site of Volubilis. This well-preserved archaeological area features impressive mosaics, columns, and arches that reflect Morocco’s Roman past. Following your visit, travel onward to Fes, where you will spend the night in a traditional riad or hotel.

Day 3: Fes - Ifrane - Merzouga
Leaving Fes after breakfast, the route heads toward Ifrane, known for its European-style architecture and cool climate. Often referred to as “Morocco’s Switzerland,” it offers a surprising contrast to the surrounding regions. Next, stop in the cedar forests near Azrou, where Barbary macaques roam freely among the trees. Continuing south, you reach Midelt, a town known for apple production, where you’ll have time for lunch.
The journey then crosses the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and follows the Ziz Valley, where palm groves stretch across the landscape, creating a striking green ribbon through the arid terrain. By late afternoon, you arrive in Merzouga, on the edge of the Sahara. Here, a camel ride takes you across the dunes, with a pause to watch the sunset from a high vantage point. Continue to your desert camp, where dinner is served under the stars. The evening includes traditional music around the fire before spending the night in a comfortable tent.

Day 4: Merzouga - Tinghir - Dades Valley
After an early wake-up, you may choose to watch the sunrise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga for breakfast. The journey continues toward the Dades Valley, with several interesting stops along the way. Pass through Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops, where you can learn about the region’s ancient geological history. A visit to traditional irrigation systems offers insight into how water has been managed in oasis regions for generations.
Arriving at the Todra Gorges, take time to walk along the river beneath towering canyon walls that rise dramatically on either side. Later in the day, continue through the Dades Valley, known for its unusual rock formations, including the so-called “Monkey Fingers,” shaped by natural erosion. Drive along the winding Tisdrine curves, a scenic mountain road famous for its sharp turns and striking views, before reaching your accommodation for the night in the valley.

Day 5: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Marrakech
Continue toward Kalaa M’Gouna, located in the Rose Valley, where rose products such as oils and perfumes are produced, especially during the annual festival in May. Travel through the palm groves of Skoura before arriving in Ouarzazate, a city known for its film studios and historic kasbahs, including the well-known Taourirt Kasbah. Next, visit Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Its earthen buildings and towers have made it a popular location for films and television productions. Walking through its narrow paths offers a glimpse into traditional architecture and history. The final stretch of the journey crosses the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along the way, there are stops for photos and rest breaks.
